  • Tool & Gage Technician
Works on highly complex tool and gage making projects with little to no technical instructions of supervisor or lead person. Performs the more difficult machining work on complicated details to meet exact dimensional and finish requirements, using any piece of tool room equipment. (3axis cnc mill, cnc lathe, cnc grinder, wire EDM, surface grinders). Analyze assignment and establish a process to fabricate from start to finish any gage, fixture or proto-type using any piece of tool room equipment efficiently. Analyze blueprints, sketches, models, verbal communication and project functionality to develop a process strategy that achieves the highest quality product. Investigate the difficulty and makes needed repairs and adjustments required, in a timely manner, to put fixtures back in use. Works closely with engineering department in development of models and prototypes using complicated mechanical, electronic and hydraulic control mechanisms. Ability to operate sophisticated measuring equipment to ensure that all quality specifications are met. Able to program, set-up and operate a variety of CNC machines using the following software. (pt4, Auto-Cad, PEPS, Creo, Mastercam) Strong understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems as they relate to fixtures. Education/ Experience Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This is an opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with strong CNC machining experience.   • Project Engineer II (Pistols Design)
This individual will be able to complete defined engineering product development projects at the direction of Engineering Management. They should possess the skills to understand project structure, scheduling and budgets, and ISO quality requirements as it relates to FN product offerings. The individual will apply engineering and organizational disciplines to enable timely project completion in fulfillment of the defined expectations. Education/ Experience Requirements: • BSME or similar 4-year engineering degree. Candidates that do not meet this requirement will be evaluated based upon their experience and competence with firearm mechanisms • Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Standards • Competency with Ansys, Adams, and / or Pro/Mechanica design analysis software a plus. • CAD experience – prefer Pro/E (Creo), but will consider other systems if experience is good • CETOL software experience is a plus. • Must have 5-10 years of mechanical product design, preferably in firearms. • Must have 5+ years of pistol design experience a plus • Prefer someone with experience taking a product from concept to production. • Must be physically capable and willing to work with firearms, including at times extensive testing (e.g. durability tests) • Must have experience with GD&T. Broad Function: Plans and performs a variety of lean manufacturing activities for the entire facility including but not limited to: 5S, Employee Suggestion Program, 8 Wastes, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, and Standard Work activities. Principal Responsibilities: • Performs 5S, 8 Wastes, and visual management for markings with shop floor employees in their respective areas. • Responsible for administrative activities and execution of the 5S Program. • Responsible for the Employee Suggestion Program. • Plans and/or fabricates and assembles and labels shadow boards, tapes FIFO floor markings, and utilizes other visual management tools and equipment. • Ability to work with maintenance and weld technicians to fabricate workbenches, racks, carts, etc. • Ability to work in a team environment with diverse personnel in all departments and shifts of the facility as needed. • Operates and analyzes data from sophisticated measuring devices such as DNC, CMM, OGP, Micro-Hite, and programmable measuring devices including multi axis and linear axis. Communicates analysis results to ME’s, QE’s, and or manufacturing employees for continuous quality improvement. • Measures product to obtain quality data to evaluate quality improvements, process capability (CP/CPK), machine capability (CN/CMK), and gage repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R) Product Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing Supervision, and manufacturing employees relative to problems for corrective action (solutions). • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with policies and procedures. Prepares documentation of quality (inspection results, disposition scrap/rework as required) prior to product movement inside the company, to outside contractors, and to final customers. • Performs open setups as required. The ability to demonstrate, understand, explain and document the layout inspection and procedures (inspection control plans) to isolate correlation issues due to personal interpretation or method differences. • Verify compliance of certification packages to necessary drawing standards, specifications, etc; i.e. surface finish, heat treat, material, chemical composition, and special processes.
